The Leiston Surgery Patient Participation Group (PPG) was formed in 2006.  The group meets every 6 weeks, usually on a Wednesday afternoon.

The Patient Participation Group chairman leads the meetings, and they are minuted by the group secretary. A GP and the Practice Manger also attend the meetings, this can help if there are specific items that require a doctor’s input.

Their services which are freely given on the basis of trust, goodwill and the desire to contribute towards the improvement of a major, nationally-owned asset - the NHS.

We are keen to promote our Patient Participation Group and value input and new ideas from new faces. If you feel like you like to be involved, please contact us on the above email address.

We are actively looking for new members who can donate some time to helping support and guide the practice during a period of great change in the NHS.

We need patient input and views about how the surgery runs and how it could be improved. There are opportunities to help with specific projects such as our annual survey. The minimum time committment is 7 or 8 lunchtimes each year.

We are particularly keen to encourage younger patients to join the group and those from ethnic minorities. Speak to the Practice Manager or one of the doctors if you are interested - or email us at leistonsurgery@nhs.net.

The Annual General Meeting is held annually, date TBC.

All patients are welcome to attend.

The annual report covers the priorities that have been looked at over the past year and also the areas that been reviewed by the PPG.

The “Thank You” Leiston Surgery campaign organised by the Patient Participation Group ran throughout March, April and May and gave the community the opportunity to show their appreciation with cards, letters and donations through Thank You Stations, by Post, by Bank and online via a JustGiving site.

The aim of purchasing a new ECG machine has been achieved and it has recently been delivered to the Surgery. The other aim was to update the staffroom and this will be carried out, plus an outside area is being cleared and developed so that staff members can sit and enjoy the fresh air when time allows.
